A Very IWS Radio Family Reunion

The Dog Days of August are here and with that, many High School and Family Reunions take place, and in this instance, as we move our IWS Headquarters to Three Way, TN., it's time to have a reunion of our own, and celebrate some of our correspondents who have moved on from the IWS Radio family.
Great men and women who gave their all to our team such as Marty Martstein, our traffic guy Dusty Sandman, and others such as Lance Cranston, Drew Peacock, Sinjin Burke, Rocky Rhodes, and our former blue booty shorted, bi-curious news babe, Kim Fragile...

We are going to have a party and find out where they are now and do it with witty banter, old recordings of the former staffers, good/bad music, some alcohol taste testing, Jamie Mapleleaf, and your phone calls at 661.244.9852 as IWS Radio presents: A Very IWS Radio Family Reunion

Memorial Day 2014...Let's Party Somberly

This weekend in Bagwine, Ohio as well as throughout this great nation of ours…

Memorial Day Weekend will be giving birth to the long awaited season of warm sunny days, starlit nights, and profound reverence for America.

The sidewalks of Main Street USA will be lined with Chinese-made American flags, bemused children, hung-over parents, and patriotic lookers on-ers, as America celebrates her fallen soldiers, sailors, and Marines with dignity and honor in the form of out of tune H.S. marching bands, glad handing political hacks, and old men in fezzes driving clown cars, because…

Nothing says, “here’s to those who gave all on the beaches of Normandy”, quite like old, mothball smelling men wearing Devo hats, while driving shiny, happy Go-Karts!!  And then…

After Taps has been played and the “Amens” have all been said...

Mom will be off to the Memorial Day Sale at Macy‘s, and Dad will educate his son in the art of the deal, as he attempts to strike a good price on a new car by negotiating with a guy on stilts dressed as Uncle Sam at the local Buick dealership.

After that...The somber events of the mourning and reflection, must of course be balanced with a little fun.

Private and public swimming pools everywhere will be littered with splashing children and older pedophile types as the chlorine and pool filter systems work overtime in order to keep the urine and E. coli within acceptable levels.

As the day turns into early evening, a rebel family in Kansas will be having a blast playing with the last known set of "dangerous" illegal JARTS, while elsewhere in suburban America...

The beers will be popped open, the grills fired up, and kids will play croquet wearing chest protectors and bike helmets.

As the sun wanes, and the adults are left to their own devices…

A guy named Hank will pork his new neighbor Leon’s comely wife Ashanti, as Leon lies face down, passed out on a grill of hot coals, as he drank too much while grilling steaks in order to impress his new white friends in a neighborhood that was once “off limits” to “his kind”.

As dusk turns to night, the memories of the fallen laid to rest, and the DUI Checkpoints closed down, America will sleep well knowing that it is fucking amazing that we have somehow managed to last this long as a nation.

But then again…You know what the most amazingly patriotic thing to do for Memorial Day Weekend would be?

Listen to Jay, me, and the IWS Radio Players LIVE this Sunday from Noon-2 PM ET on Blog Talk Radio as IWS Radio presents, Grillin’ and Chillin’ With Controversial Ingredients.

In addition to honoring our fallen soldiers, we will somberly and soberly be talking about beer, summertime fun, and the most important thing about Memorial Day…cooking-out, and what are the best things to grill and chill with.

So there you have it America.  Honor the fallen and listen to IWS Radio this weekend, because if you do not?

You hate America, hate Macy’s, and hate the American automobile industry.

Cheers!!

A Long and Difficult Day

Holaaaaaaaaaaa! So I get up this morning and had a few things to do and I had to go get the Jaymom’s birthday cake at Walmart. I get all ready and make myself presentable and shit and head out of the house ready to take on the day! First thing I had to do was turn around and come right back in to get my hoodie because holy crap it was cold!

I get my hoodie and head back out still ready to get things done and get back in time for a very special event that was going to happen today which I will tell you about in a minute. I get in my car and ………….. *clickclickclickclickclick* *brrrrrcoughcoughbrrrrr* *clickclickclickclick*

OHMYGOD! CARMELA!! NOOOOOOOOO!

Suddenly Dr. Leonard McCoy appeared hovering above Carmela and said …..

I sat there for a minute sad and depressed that the batter in my precious Carmela had died, but I knew it was going to happen eventually. I gathered myself together and commandeered the Jaymom’s car and proceeded to complete my tasks. What else could I do? The world wasn’t going to wait for me.

Since I was already in Walmart to pick up the cake, I ran by the automotive section to check on the price of a new battery. After I fainted and came to, I got the cake and some Pepsi which Walgreen’s has 3-12 Packs for $11 this week which I knew Walmart would match, and they did and took the cake to the Jaymom.

About a half hour after getting back, our special guest arrived. Yup, you guessed it. M.E. came over. Remember her? The old lady who got a new laptop and I had to teach her to use it and it has been a complete cluster fuck? The old lady to just rambles on and on and on about something and gets caught in a loop and just keeps repeating herself for long periods of time? Yup, that one!

Hooooooooo boy, she was on today y’all! I really should take notes when talking to her because it’s impossible to remember all the crazy. The highlight of the day was when we were discussing looking up our family histories. M. E. has decided that she’s part Jewish. She will not even consider the possibility that she isn’t. She’s convinced that she is and that’s why she hates herself so much. When we looked up the name Goheen we found that it’s a Dutch name. This didn’t seem possible to her at all. I pointed out that she grew up in Pennsylvania and this exchange happened:

ME: No, no Dutch there.
Jay: Where? In Pennsylvania?
ME: Yeah. No, there aren’t.
Jay: In Pennsylvania? The state? In America?
ME: Yeah.
Jay: Okay.

Anyway, we looked up some of her family whom she said lived in a little bitty town in Pennsylvania and found them. We found her aunt (I think it was her aunt), her aunt’s brother, mother, father everyone else. She recognized all the names. Suddenly M.E. says “No, that’s not them.”

Apparently she thinks that there are two separate families all with the same first and last names living in a town of just a couple of thousand people in rural Pennsylvania and the OTHER ONES are probably her family.  I’m not making any of this up.

Anyway, I put the new battery in my car and am now drinking heavily.

P.S. You should totally listen to Aunt Jackie rocking the IWS Radio house covering John Mellencamp's "Hurt so Good!"

Matt Said, Jay Said 202-462-3939

Matt binges, Jay quaffs.  You, turn green.

Matt:  Top of the mornin’ to ya, laddie boy!!

Jay:  Laddie?  Mornin’?  It’s 7:30 PM.

Matt:  I know, but I’m getting my green on for Sunday’s show.  St. Patrick’s Day show, right?

Jay:  Well yeah, but do you want to become too green, too soon?
Matt:  Well…

Jay:  Maybe for now, you could be a lime or chartreuse type of Irish green and be a peak green on Sunday.

Matt:  You’re a fucking genius.

Jay:  IKR?  Hey?  Will your brother and lead singer of The Dreamboats be joining us on this prep call?

Matt:  No…His wife put him on probation.
Jay:  Why?

Matt:  I told you that last Friday, he got his green on way too early, and way too much.
Jay:  Oh yeah…See?  Ya never want to peak too soon.
Matt:  But…he “promises” to talk to us live on the air Sunday prior to St. Paddy’s Day gig.
Jay:  His promises aren't that solid, but he did make it on air last St. Patrick’s Day.
Matt:  Yep…Hopefully the Luck o’ the Irish will be with us again this year.

Jay:  In addition to your brother probably not calling us, we could talk about our fave Irish foods.
Matt:  Well, that will fill 2-3 minutes, or twenty if John Kerry does his potato speech again.
Jay:  John does love his taters…Oh, we can talk about our favorite Irish people.
Matt:  That would be awesome.  I love many an Irishman and lady.
Jay:  Me too…plus, that will give you a chance to bring up Oscar Wilde for the 15,000th time.
Matt:  And while not enough mentions of him, that’s a good start.

Jay:  We could talk about our favorite green things.
Matt:  Sure, like grass.
Jay:  Emeralds.
Matt and Jay:  BEER!!

Matt:  Wow…I hear that Paul Piatt, Phil Diller, and possibly Guy Ahnyurdyck may show up as well.
Jay:  Bobby Kraft and Drew Peacock are a definite go as well, annnnnnnnnd Matt-Man…
Matt:  O’Yes?
Jay:  Sexy Aunt Jax has a song and our fave Canadian Jamie is going to be reporting from The Hammer.

Matt:  This is all making my head spin. This show is gonna be huge.

Jay:  IKR?  Irish music, Irish food…

Matt:  Irish laughter, and a special St. Paddy’s Day rebuttal from Rep. Trey Gowdy.

Jay:  Who’s that?

Matt:  The congressman with the other worldly, yet sexy hair.

Jay:  Oh yeah…I like him, and the name Gowdy?  That’s sounds Irish.

Matt:  It does indeed, hold on…I Googled it…It’s Scots/Brit.

Jay:  Well fuck him, but if he can fill some time, that’s cool.

Matt:  Maybe we should call the Irish Embassy in D.C. as well.
Jay:  They won’t be open on Sunday though.
Matt:  No, and they’ll all be drunk on Monday, but we could leave them a nice St. Patrick’s Day message.
Jay:  Let’s Do Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
Matt:  O’Kay.

You Won't Believe What Happened at Work Yesterday

Cheeeeeeeers Chuckleheads, Matt-Man here.

You are not going to believe what happened to me and the owner of the Beer Mine (conveniently located at the corner of Elmore and Burnett Road in Bagwine, OH.) yesterday.

I got there, as I always do, around 2 P.M.  Mike (the owner) and I were making small talk about how cold it has been and how much colder it will be getting, and then?

BAM!!  SPLASH!! BAZINGA!! CRASH!!

We both raced out of the semi-warm office to find what the noise was, and lo and behold, we couldn‘t believe our own sets of paired eyes as we stared at the drive thru floor and cooler doors.

I looked at Mike, and asked him…

“Holy Cow!!  Can you believe that shit?”

And Mike responded with much the same disbelief…

“Damn, that is fucking crazy!!”

We stared in disbelief for twenty seconds or so, although it seemed like an hour, and then looked at each other, and spontaneously and simultaneously said to one and other with mouths agape…

“This is July 24, 2012 all over again!!”

Just as we were preparing to fix the catastrophe, our buddy and one of our regulars, Keith, pulls in and says…

“Holy Shit…What the hell just happened?  That’s fucked up.”

Mike told him that maybe he should just take his beer, quit staring, and move along, but shortly afterward, as Mike and I were discussing what to do, Casey pulled in.

Ah yes, the affable, adorable, and hot Casey of the long reddish-brown hair, perky personality, and perkier breasts pulled in and said…

“Ha!!  You guys have quite the mess on your hands.  Could I get a case of Bud Light, a pack of smokes, and a bottle of wine while you are cleaning up.?”

After Mike and I argued over who would wait on Casey while the other began to clean up the devastation, I gave Casey her change, collected a well-deserved tip, and Mike said to me…

“Matt-Man, come here…You ain't going to believe what this shit left behind.”

And I didn't…It was supernatural.

After the events of July 24, 2012, I never believed that this would have ever happened at the Beer Mine again, and then Mike said to me…

“You know? We go to work every day; we do right by the Lord, and yet?  This same shit keeps happening over and over again.”

I looked upon the catastrophe that had just taken place, and with Mike’s words in my head said unto myself…

“Mike speaks the truth, but damn, and in spite of the suffering that took place here today…That Casey chick is hot.”

And there you go…a story of mayhem, rue, and regret from the Beer Mine.  May your today be better than your yesterday.

And let me tell you...if this ever happens again, you will be the first to know!!

Cheers!!

Instant Karma Is Gonna Get You!!

Cheeeeeeeers Chuckleheads!!

It’s good to see you all on this most inspiring first Tuesday in September.

Jayman and I put on one helluva IWS Radio show this past Sunday, and if you missed it LIVE, you can catch all the hilarity right HERE.  And trust me, we had a topless babe on the air, and it was HOT!!

Anyhoo…

Many people in my life, and no I am not kidding Jayman and others, think I am far too nice to people.  One of whom who thinks this, is my boss, and owner of the Beer Mine at which I work, Drive-By Mikey.

Don’t get me wrong, while we do sell a ton o’ beer everyday, 95% of the folks who come through are pleasant and behaved, but…

The other 5% can be rude, self-absorbed, whiny, stupid assholes.

I nearly always rise above the instances of a jerk coming through, and Mike has often told me, “Man, you are too nice sometimes; I would have told that jerk to go to hell.”

I have always and to this day do respond…

“Eh, it wasn’t time to jump on him (or her), but no worries, I keep notes of people on a Rolodex in my head.”

After I say that, Mike usually responds, “Whatever.”  Because that is something that I have always told Mike about me that he doesn't understand...that being…

Patience is not only a virtue…it’s a well-conceived time bomb.

See?  Two weeks ago, this dude in a pick em up truck came through and asked for a 12 pack of Miller Lite and a bag of ice.

I gave said thirsty man his order.  He drove outside of the Beer Mine, out the contents in his cooler, and thennnn…He came into the office with empty box and plastic bag, and said, “Here, trash.”

I thought to myself…”Oh no you didn't just do that?”  But I bit my tongue and took it.

Last week, he came through and ordered the same thing, and wouldn't you know..?  He brought me his trash again and never uttered a word!!  No at word of “thanks”.  Not a word of, “Is this okay?”  Not a word of,  “Do you mind?”

To which I said to myself…

“Y’know Lord…I try to be a good person.  I try to live by your word. In fact, other than my occasional drunkenness which I confine to my home (and on my Facebook page), I try to be a non-judgmental, get along, go along kinda guy…but if this rude motherfucker ever comes through here again, I am going to pass judgment.”

Well my friends, yesterday Rude Man came through, and it was Judgment Day!!

He ordered a 12 pack of Miller Lite, and a small bag of ice.

The order came to $12.10.

The man only had $12.00, so he asked me…

“Can you front me a dime?”

Oh Dear God!!  The responses that ran through my mind!!  Five hours of responses that actually lit up every synapse in my brain in a mere two seconds.

I said to rude Mr. Trash Man…

“Aren't you the guy who gives me your trash every week?  That’s pretty rude.”

He responded, “I could have just thrown it in your lot.”

“Or you could have thrown your trash into the bed of your truck like most people do.”, I said.

And as Mikey came out to see what was going on, he heard…

“So you won’t give me dime?”

And I said, “Nope, because you are rude.”

And the dude said, “I guess I’ll take my business elsewhere.” and then he drove off.

After that, Mike and I did the fist hit and Mike said…

“After ten years in this business, I have come to realize that if we could just kick the assholes out and break even, it would be better than making a lot of money dealing with them, and I see now why you have that stupid Rolodeck or whatever that you talk about.”

Cheers!!

Miller Brewing, Coors Brewing, and IWS Radio...A Tasty Match Made in Marketing Heaven

Happy Tuesday Chuckleheads!!

I hope that if you are currently staring down the business end of the heat and humidity gun of Mother Nature as we are here in Springfield, Ohio, you are muddling through the climatological (well, it’s a word now) steam bath comfortably.

It was pretty sultry here yesterday.

It wasn’t incredibly hot temp wise, 88 or so…but the humidity was high as well, which made for a yeast breeding, Gold Bond powder applied to the nether regions type of day for me at the Beer Mine.

Even though it was but a Monday, hundreds of folks, both over worked and out of work, dwelling within the Greater Bagwine Metroplex, drove through the Beer Mine (located at the corner of Elmore and Burnett Rd. across from Donato’s in Springfield, Ohio) delightfully demanded to purchase beer in order that their whistles might be whetted.

As a loud, proud, and sassy employee of said Beer Mine, I happily slung unto those with a powerful thirst, 30 Packs of Milwaukee’s Best Light, 6 Packs of Mickey’s Malt Liquor, and of course, 12 packs of Miller Lite and Coors Light.

And yes, in full disclosure…I sold plenty of beer put out by that other heavyweight in the field of beermanship that is now owned by a bunch of Belgian buttheads, whom I refer to as, “AB.”

If beer made with rice, makes you feel nice…then AB beer is your brand.  Whatever…and uuch!!

But…I digress.

All of the aforementioned beers are put out by MillerCoors, and let me tell you…

My number one fave beer is Mickey’s.  My number two beer and which runs the day to day operation of my liver, is Milwaukee’s Best Light, but due to the heat and the workout that our customers put me through yesterday?

After the work day was done, I needed to taste some of my friend and my mistress, so I bought two 24 ouncers of my ab fab favorite beer, Steel Reserve.

Steel Reserve is the kick ass-est of the High Gravity beers.  It is smooth, tasty, yet maintains the kick of what a high gravity beer should have.

That other brewery that I mentioned?  AB?  They too make a High Gravity beer.  It’s called Hurricane…They should have named it Tropical Depression, because it is weak and tastes like the runoff from a lackadaisical storm surge full of carp.

Steel Reserve is where it’s at my friends.  And you know what?

I think IWS Radio and MillerCoors make a good match.  I think they should advertise on our show and our website.  I mean, hell, between the two IWS venues, we reach some 75,000-90,000 people a month.

We have a Facebook and Twitter account that reaches thousands more, and…

Jayman and I not only love and drink their products, I sell them everyday!!  It’s a perfect marketing storm, and a win-win!!

If they were to come up with a paltry $3,000 we could advertise for them for an entire year.  IWS could go super premium on BTR, AND have money left over for giveaways promoting our show, website, and their products.

I think I am on to something, and let me tell you why.

I came up with this idea while drinking Steel Reserve, and you know why?

Because just like the 211 logo on the can, when I drink Steel Reserve, my IQ goes from 150 to 211 by the second sip.

Cheers!!

Heat Wave 2012...Summer Safety Tips

Cheers Chuckleheads!!

As a widespread and profound heat wave is already gripping parts of the nation and about to exert its fiery grip on the Greater Bagwine, Ohio metroplex, I thought this would be a good time to provide a public service on behalf of IWS in the form of a few heat wave/summer fun safety tips.

Folks here in Bagwine freak out in the winter when an inch of snow is predicted, and some of us with a modicum of common sense refer to that type of thing as, “The White Death.”  So…

So since it’s summer and we are getting nothing but 24/7 local news coverage of the impending “dangerous” summer conditions, we shall refer to this summer sun induced panic as, “The Yellow Death.”

No, wait…That sounds more like an impending invasion by the Chinese and as we all know, America has nothing to fear from the Chinese, other than our own borrowing habits.  Let’s see…

We will call this heat wave, “The Orange Death.”  Yeah, I like that…or better yet…

Let’s make it sound all sexy, translate it into French, and call it, “La Mort d’Orange.”

Okay, now that sounds serious and yet artfully headline grabbing.  So to wit, and heretofore, I shall now offer some very good suggestions as to how to beat the near 100 degree heat over the next few days.

Fewer Clothes…
When the mercury is bursting through the top of a thermometer like a less than experienced teen boy’s Johnson at the site of a picture of Megan Fox naked, the clothes have to come off.  “Experts” will tell you to dress lightly in light-colored apparel.  Screw that stupid advice.

When the mercury is kissing the 100 degree mark, it’s time to shed your clothes completely.  Be advised however…For the health and well-being of others and in spite of your lack of dignity and self-respect, if you look like me, stay indoors with the blinds shut while walking around naked.  That’s both cool for you, and for others.

Stay Hydrated…
Your local TV newshounds always tell ya…“Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, Gatorade type stuff, but alcohol, is a no-no.”

Pfffffft.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  What is the number one go to item when battling summer’s inferno?  Damn right, an ice cold beer.  A cold beer will extinguish Mother Nature’s blast furnace quicker than anything else.  And…

If after ten or twelve beers you are still hot, simply drop the top on the convertible and take a speedy drive down a curvy country lane.  Paradise.

Tip Your Drive-Thru Attendants Well…
These Angels of Mercy who man the Drive-Thrus of Ohio will be smiling and sweating while attending to your thirsty needs.  The summer heat can take its toll on these lifters of the 30 packs, so even when only spending a couple of bucks on a pop, show your appreciation and leave a sizable tip of between 3-5 dollars when patronizing their establishments.

That may seem extreme, but just as the gratuity gets bigger at a restaurant when the party is larger, tips at a Drive-Thru should rise with the temperature and the Dew Point.

Take Care of Your Pets…
Our pets are some of the closest member of our families, so make certain that they have access to A/C or a fan, and have a comfortable place in which to rest. If you are away, make sure somebody can feed them, provide them with a good meal, and keep Fido and/or Toonces company.

Take Care of the Elderly…
Even the elderly close to us are sometimes an afterthought, however, during this extreme heat we need to keep them nearly foremost in our thoughts.

Sometimes due to fleas, mange, or just plain crabbiness, the elderly can wander off, so keep them on a short leash preferably tied to a shade tree or at least in a place around the yard the gets no direct sunlight between 2 and 4.  A bowl of fresh water would be a nice touch as well.  Although they can see the Lighthouse of Heaven blinking upon the horizon of life, the elderly still get thirsty just like you and I.

And there you have it folks…A few good heat wave tips that the losers on your local TV networks won’t mention.

This is the Matt-Man preparing for the impending heat wave as I get ready for today’s IWS Radio Show which airs LIVE today at 11 AM ET.  And, you can catch it LIVE by clicking HERE.

Cheers!!

A Celebration of Beer ...

Last night on “I'm With Stupid” we celebrated one of the greatest inventions of all time. BEER! That's right kids, we talked all things beer. We talked about our favorite beers and what we actually drink because our favorites are fucking expensive. We talked domestics and imports and …

And then things all when haywire when we got a caller. Our newest friend and fan called in from the NASCAR races in Kentucky? Where in Kentucky? THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAAAAAAA! That's where. Anyway, apparently the beer flows freely at NASCAR races and our friend was taking advantage of the flow. She's a Bud Light girl, in case you were wondering. Anyway, thanks for calling from a NASCAR race and finally getting us some white listeners Shirley. You rocked!

Also, thanks to Mike for calling in for the after show portion of the show. Mike was as cool and smooth as always. He's the Dean Martin of I'm With Stupid listeners without the singing talent.

So anyway, if you'd like to listen, and I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to, you can do so using the handy dandy BTR Mystery Machine below or on the sidebar. Or just use the blogger mp3 player on your Google Reader at the bottom of this post.

And, as always, we thank you for your support.

No She's Not Retarded...She's HOT!!

Happy Friday, Chuckleheads!!

We had another IWS reader submission which is incredibly nice.  The more items you guys submit to us for publication, the fewer times you will have to listen to Jayman or myself.

Anyhoo and to wit...

IWS's fave resident scientist, Desert Rat sent us a picture of herself from her, shall we say, more formative years.

This picture is proof positive that neither the toxic levels associated with materials such as lead nor graphite can stunt the brilliance or hotness of a woman while growing up:

Upon viewing this picture, you may say to yourself...

"Sure, she looks like a bright woman who happened to let her inner geek out for a second, but where is this hotness you spoke of?"

Well my friends...In addition to being a scientist who also holds an MBA, the lovely Rat today, can more than adequately fill the role and the hold the title of, Pin-Up Girl:

Brilliance AND hotness?  Oh hell yeah, it can be done, and Rat is proof positive of that.

We want to thank Rat for sending along the pictures, and remember...

You can catch Jayman and myself tomorrow night on I'm With Stupid at 6:30 PM EDT on Blog Talk Radio.

You can access a link to our show page by clicking on our Radio tab at the top of this site, and you can catch all of our shows by utilizing the archive player on our right sidebar.

I'll be back later this evening with some information on tomorrow's show, but I can tell you now that tomorrow's IWS Radio show topic is....BEER!!

Thanks again to the uber-smart and sexy Rat, and to all of you...

Cheers!!
